To create an encrypted backup:

1. Open MoneyMate Vault and navigate to the Backup tab from the sidebar.
2. Click Start Encrypted Backup.
3. Select your preferred storage folder (e.g. your Documents, USB Drive, or a local Google Drive / OneDrive sync folder).
4. MoneyMate Vault serializes and encrypts your entire database into a secure .enc package.

To restore a backup on any Windows PC:

1. Navigate to Backup → Decrypted Restore.
2. Select your saved .enc backup file.
3. Provide your Master PIN / Password when prompted. The application validates data integrity and instantly restores your ledger.

MoneyMate Vault uses official Microsoft Store in-app commerce APIs (Windows.Services.Store). All transactions are billed directly to the payment method attached to your Microsoft Account (Credit Card, PayPal, or Microsoft Gift Card).

Re-activating Pro on a new PC: Simply sign in to the Microsoft Store on your new Windows PC with the same Microsoft Account used for the purchase, install MoneyMate Vault, and the app will automatically recognize your active Pro license.

Subscription Cancellation & Refunds: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by visiting account.microsoft.com/services. Refund requests are subject to standard Microsoft Store Consumer Terms.

Because MoneyMate Vault operates on a local client-side encryption model, your secret key is never sent to our servers. Consequently, we cannot remotely reset or bypass your PIN/Password.

If you lose your password and have not saved unencrypted exports, you can reset the application to its default state by going to Settings → Reset Database or removing the local database.json file in %APPDATA%\MoneyMate\. We strongly advise recording your master password in a password manager.
